Tax Cuts for the Rich Goes Way Back

It turns out that the Rosetta Stone is a description of tax cuts for the Egyptian Priest class. The Pharaoh, Ptolemy V, was weak and needed to shore up support from the priests. It doesn’t seem like it changed the repression of the common people at all.

It’s also interesting that the commoners during the Ptolemaic dynasty had to use copper currency, while the ruling class used gold coinage. This made the commoners currency virtually worthless outside Egypt. Controlling currency goes way back too.
